My precious daddy in his 93rd year, passed into the arms of Jesus around noon today.
His body will be taken back to MO and our family will gather on Sunday April 14 at 3pm to celebrate his life.
I remember as a child attending many funerals (because my daddy was a preacher) and this song by Fanny Crosby stands out in my memory.
Safe in the arms of Jesus, safe on His gentle breast,
There by His love o’ershaded, sweetly my soul shall rest.
Hark! ’tis the voice of angels, borne in a song to me.
Over the fields of glory, over the jasper sea.
Safe in the arms of Jesus, safe on His gentle breast
There by His love o’ershaded, sweetly my soul shall rest.
Safe in the arms of Jesus, safe from corroding care,
Safe from the world’s temptations, sin cannot harm me there.
Free from the blight of sorrow, free from my doubts and fears;
Only a few more trials, only a few more tears!
Jesus, my heart’s dear Refuge, Jesus has died for me;
Firm on the Rock of Ages, ever my trust shall be.
Here let me wait with patience, wait till the night is over;
Wait till I see the morning break on the golden shore.

That song is so fitting. My condolences to you and the family Brian. I thank God for the life of your father- he stood strong in the Lord and diligently did His will. And from that there has been much to give God the glory for. PTL for Mr. Jack McKillop as he rests in the arms of Jesus.
When my dad died (20 years ago yesterday), we stood at his grave and sang, "Because He lives, I can face tomorrow...." To this day, whenever I hear or sing that refrain, I think of my father and how wonderful it will be to see him again in heaven. Music tied to these memories is so powerful and comforting. Bless you all, Jo Beth
